Bosra

A free standing amphitheatre from the 2nd century AD that can seat 15,000. It was in great condition and the acoustics matched the standard of the masonry. You can hear people on the stage from the back row seats.

Ruins adjoining the amphitheatre and the area immediately around the site were spaceous and well maintained. The tourism value was obviously well understood. Given that market has been another casuality of Bashir's war on his own people it can only be hoped that the place is spared any neglect and damage. A vain hope i suspect, but at least IS didn't get their rabid hands on it as they did with Palmyra.

Roman Ruins - great acoustics
